Obituary of Tyler and Barbara Secord
MORAVIA — Dr. Tyler and Barbara Secord, ages 67 and 65, passed away unexpectedly on July 7, 2013, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Dr. Secord was born on July 3, 1946, in Delhi, the son of Raymond and Verna (McFarland) Secord. Mrs. Secord was born on May 19, 1948, in Delhi, the daughter of Basil and Myrtle Rider.
The couple were 40-year residents of Moravia. Dr. Secord was an optometrist and operated Optical Barr Inc. in Cortland for more than 35 years. Barbara studied as a beautician while in school and later helped her husband manage and run their business.
Tyler was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. Barbara enjoyed scrapbooking, jewelry making and knitting. Together, they enjoyed traveling all over the world.
They are survived by their two children, daughter, Kim and Chris Kane of Milford, Pa., and son, Sean and Julie Secord of Delhi; grandchildren, Madelaine, Aidan, Ryan and Lauren; Barb's sister and brother, Joyce Smith and David Rider, both of Delhi; Tyler's brother, Tim Secord of Bennington, Vt.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A remembrance gathering will take place from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 13, 2013, at the Greenane Farms, 5637 Turnpike Road, Delhi, NY 13753.
