Condolences
If there is anything positive it is that they left together and are together. To all family left behind, you will miss them more than you can imagine but hold to the thought that they are not without each other. There love for each other will be with you always.
My sincere condolences to the Secord families. Dr Secord was our family's optometrist since 1980,when we move to NY He was great with kids and he welcomed us to the area. Tho I only saw him once or twice a year, he was like a lifelong friend, gave great care, excellent service and cared more about us as people than the money we paid for his help. We talked hunting and fishing and family every time I was in the office. He always asked abut the family and our children. I will miss him and will always hold the good memories of this caring, professional and upbeat friend.
As a boyhood pal of Ty and a DA classmate of Barb, we have sweet memories of our youth. As adults we have deep appreciation and respect for the lives and profound influences of Tyler and Barbara. As friends we offer our deepest loving thoughts and prayers to the family and many friends who are truly missing Dr. & Mrs.Tyler Secord....may God cherish their presence in heaven.
deepest sympathy to you at the loss of two beautiful, respected people, your parents ty and barb. itwas our pleaure to know them in this lifetime as school friends, clients, and adult friends. so many of us will also miss your parents.they were very proud of you and the grandchildren.
To the family, our deepest condolences for your loss. We just saw them at the square July 4th week-end, and Ty whom I hadn't seen since high school over 48 yrs. ago, gave me a big hug. It was wonderful reminiscing about old times, and I will always be grateful that I had the chance to reconnect after all these years. God must have had a bigger plan for them. Please know you are all in our thoughts and prayers. Fondly, Barb (Mills) McMahon
To the family of Ty and Barbara, I am very sorry for your loss.
I was very fortunate to share pizzas and chicken wings, few days before they were taken away. We really had a lot of fun that evening. It was a pleasure meeting them. They are missed.
Words can hardly express our sadness when we learned of the passing of your mom & dad. I had gone to Dr. Tyler since in my late 20's until his retirement, we always talked about how much younger he was than me 1 yr 10 days younger!! I always joked about loving my appt. because I got to go in the "dark room" with him. He was such a handsome, friendly man..Years later my husband went to the optical barr and he enjoyed the hunting & fishing stories of course. We missed him when he retired and always will remember him. Our deepest sympathy to the family.
Sean
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Kim an Sean: So ironic, I was just thinking of your dad last week when i was trying to pull my kids in a tube behind our boat? I told them the story of Dave Perkins and myself trying to learn how to water ski with your dad. We kept breaking the ski rope and he just kept laughing and saying "good thing I have another one". I will always cherish the good times we all spent with them! Sincere Sympathy!
Tyler was our family Eye Doc since the 70's. We all enjoyed our trips in to see him. I just saw Tyler and Barb shopping in Cortland about a month ago. Had a great visit with them. Will miss seeing them. They were both so down to earth. My family sends our Heart felt Sympathy. RIP

Our prayers and sympathy goes out to your families. s
I am so saddened by your loss. My thoughts and prayers go out to your family and friends. Dr. Secord was my grandmother's eye doctor since he opened his practice, and was my eye doctor as well until he retired. He was such a fine man, and I will always remember our wonderful conversations. He never once rushed his patients in and out of his office, as he loved to hear about our lives and share the events, particularly his stories of how much he loved his family, the outdoors, and hunting. He was a wonderful and well respected man. I was honored to have known him, as are many. May God bless you all and may your wonderful memories help ease your pain.
To Sean and family. I wish I could be there. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
Kim, Sean and the entire family. I am so very sorry for the loss of your mom and dad. They were both amazing and unforgetable people. I will always remember my summers spend at the lake. As a teen, Tyler took me salmon fishing for the first time. I remember asking him , how will I know when I see one? Just then, a salmon took off it was like a torpedo going thru the water . Tyler said, now you know what you are looking for. I enjoyed our chats while admiring his Trophy Room... WOW, I was so jealous. Barb was so nice to me. She was special, always laughing.
Kim and Sean, I am very sad for your loss.
I am so very, very sorry for your loss. Dr. Secord was my eye dr. and a spendid one he was!!!!!! I also met your Mom when she worked with him before he retired. Both wonderful people. KIM & SEAN & FAMILY,
My heart is aching for you at this sad time. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help you. I have so many fond memories of your parents when I lived in Moravia. We had a lot of fun and they were so kind to include me. We stayed in touch after I moved away and of course Ty did my eye exam every year. I'm sorry that they did not get to enjoy their retirement for long after working so hard. I can't believe how your life can change in a second.
Love,
Julie Saltsman
Two beautiful people. I did not know Barb as well as Ty since we were 3 yr olds together on Park Place. Through the same hard work he put into football, he achieved great success in his chosen profession. But for me he will always be a teenager from the little red house on Park Place.

Dr. Secord was our eye doctor for many years and I will never forget how sweet he was with my daughter Cassandra. Cassandra has autism and we were very nervous about how she would do with an eye exam and glasses as a teenager, but Dr. Secord was wonderful with her and made her right at ease. He joked with her (of course) and found a way to figure out what she could and couldn't see. We missed him when he retired and are so saddened at his death. Our condolences.
Dear Kim, Chris, and children, Please know you are in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time. May you be comforted remembering the very special times you shared with your parents/grandparents. I will always remember the way they looked at you with such adoration and pride. May they rest in Peace.

I first met Dr. Tyler Secord when I visited him for an eye exam when he first opened his office in Cortland in the early 1970's. He continued to be my "eye doctor" until his retirement. Not only was Tyler an excellent optometrist, but he became a good friend, as did his wife, Barb. Tyler and I shared many hunting stories, and Barb and I talked many times about our love of horses, and in particular, about my horse, Blaze, whom she had ridden at a stable before I purchased him. When my mother was in the hospital in 1986, Mom was worried about her eyesight. (Her heart was giving out and causing problems with her vision.) I called Tyler and asked him for a huge favor—I asked if he would visit my mom in the hospital on his way home. "Absolutely!" was his response. I was visiting Mom when he stopped by that same evening, examined her eyes, and assured her that they were fine. He wouldn't let me pay for his bedside visit to Mom. He just said he hoped she felt better soon. They always spoke lovingly of their children and grandchildren. They were very proud of all they had achieved. Tyler and Barb touched many lives and made many, many friends over the years. I was fortunate and honored to consider them my friends. They will be missed!
Sorry for your Loss they will be missed They were our friends for along time we will miss them.
rowing up in Homer, NY, Tyler Secord was my Optician until he retired a short time ago. He was a wonderful man always full of stories and never short for conversation. He will be dearly missed.
