Obituary of Linda Burns

Linda Burns, 78 of Delhi, passed away on Tuesday afternoon, July 23, 2024 at her home surrounded by her family.

Born on March 29, 1946 in Delhi, she was the daughter of the late Kermit and Mildred (Scott) Forman.

In her earlier years she assisted in the operation of the family dairy farm, she then worked for Verizon telephone company and following her retirement, Linda went on to receive a bachelor’s degree in Human Services and became a child children’s court advocate working for CASA at Centro Civico in Amsterdam, NY. Later Linda returned to Delhi and until recently worked for the St. Mary’s Food Pantry in Oneonta.

Linda enjoyed gardening, flowers, crafts, her hobby farm and animals.  She was always one to help anyone in need, including fostering children over the years.

Besides her parents, Linda was predeceased by her sons: Timothy in 2010 and Scott earlier this year.

She is survived by her grandchildren: Adam, Eric, Cody, Derek and Emily Burns, Sidney Rider and Ashley Stone; daughter in law: Laurie Burns; great-grandchildren: Izabell, Beau, Mack and Jameson Burns and Gavin Rider; sister: Mary Inman; companion: Dan Sheldon; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends and relatives are invited to call on the family from 11AM-1PM on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at the MacArthur Funeral Home, 134 Main Street, Delhi, NY.  Graveside services will follow at 2PM at Andes Cemetery, Andes, NY.  All are invited to a reception following the service at the Bloomville Fire Department.
