Obituary of William "Willie" Lofstad
William “Willie” Lofstad, 89, of Bloomville, formally from Islip, Long Island, peacefully passed away on Friday, December 22, 2023 at his home.
He proudly served in the US Navy from 1956 until his honorable discharge in 1957.
Willie spent the bulk of his early life on the Great South Bay as an avid Bayman. He operated “Willie’s Bait Dock” for 30 years in Captree State Park, before moving his family to Bloomville. Where he was an avid woodworker and carpenter, fixing many local homes in the area.
He was predeceased by two brothers: Richard and Raymond Lofstad.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years: Bonnie Lofstad; three children: Christine Kaufman(Aaron), David Lofstad (Katie), and Stacey Cervantes (Rich); grandchildren: Elisa Barnhart, Seth Smith(Jaye), Logan Kaufman, Jack, Sailor, Fisher, Michael(Lena), Joseph, Brian, Ally, Joseph, and Johnny; greatgrandchildren: Brayden & Gabi, Phoenix, Ellie, Madolyn, Addison, Ryder, and Annalee; and many nieces & nephews.
A celebration of life will be held from 3-7PM on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at the Bloomville Fire Hall, 243 Scotch Hill Road, Bloomville, where military honors will be held at 3PM.
