Obituary of James R. Wright
DeLANCEY
James R. Wright, 67, of DeLancey, passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2013 at the Mountainside Residential Care Center in Margaretville.
He was born on May 10, 1946 in Delhi, the son of Edmund and Florence (Eadie) Wright.
A life-long area resident, James was a Veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the US Army. Being self-employed in the area as a carpenter, he also worked on the bridge crew for Delaware County.
When he was able, James enjoyed hunting, haying, raising beef cattle, horse racing and attending clam bakes with his friends up North. He was also an avid NASCAR fan.
He was a member of the Terry Clove Community Hall, the Salsbury Ridgerunners Snowmobile Club, the Hamden Hill Ridge Riders, and the American Legion, Donald W. Gleason Post #190 in Delhi.
Surviving are a son, Jimmy; a granddaughter, Brittany; a great granddaughter, Bailey; brothers, Jay and Elsie, Gerald and Kathy, William and Caroline; sisters, June and Mel Ruff, Cathy and Mike Drew; special friends, Linda and Larry Govendo and family, Don and Linda Denapole and family, Steve and Sylvia Reed and family; several nieces and nephews who remember uncle Jim for his ice cream treats; and many more friends.
He was predeceased by his parents; his sister, Jane; and brothers Johnny and George.
Burial will take place in Andes Cemetery, Andes at the convenience of friends and family.
