Obituary of Rose Marie Ham

Rose Marie Ham, aged 87, passed away on February 9, 2014 at Otsego Manor, Cooperstown.
Born February 15, 1926 in Richfield Springs, the daughter of Orie Leonard and Sadie Vroman, Rose Marie was raised in Cooperstown by her guardians, Katherine and Thomas Rehm.
She graduated from Cooperstown High School and attended the State University College of Oneonta until her marriage to Harry Potter, with whom she had two children, Tom and Anne Potter.
Rose Marie, with her second husband Gurney Ham, had a third child, Steve Ham. Rose Marie and Gurney worked and raised their three children on the Ham family farm in Davenport Center.
Rose Marie loved children. Throughout her life, she created and gave away more than 100 baby quilts. She was a "second mom" to all her children's friends. She also loved animals, especially Boston Terriers, and raised many in her lifetime.
Rose Marie was predeceased by her parents, her husbands, Harry and Gurney, her youngest son, Steve, her brother Frank Leonard and sister Katherine Sargent.
She is survived by a son, Tom; a daughter, Anne; grandchildren, David and Kimberly Coury, Benjamin and Jennifer Coury, Rhiannon Ham, Traci Whitehill, Arthur Ham, and Marci Ham; great grandchildren, Joel, Dorian, Everett, and Christopher. Rose Marie is also survived by the ones who loved her as their second mom, Patricia Carey-Pelligra, Reba Bradon-Whiteman, Galina Whitman, Peggy Stickles, and Glennora Broadwell.
Calling hours will be held at Davenport Methodist Church on Friday, February 14 from 2 to 4 p.m. A burial service will be held in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Rose Marie's memory may be made to Otsego Manor Activities Dept. or Catskill Area Hospice. May the staff at Otsego Manor and Hospice know how much she loved them and how grateful her family is for their love and care. We were all blessed by her presence and she was blessed by yours.
