Obituary of Kathleen M. Haight
DAVENPORT Kathleen M. Haight, 93, of Davenport, passed away Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Chestunt Park Rehab & Nursing in Oneonta. Born on February 11, 1921 in Hancock, NY to John and Laura (Knapp) Milk, Kathleen attended Long Eddy High School and Hartwick College. On December 24, 1942 Kathleen married Donald C. Haight in Oneonta, NY. While Don was serving his country in World War II, Kathleen worked at the Bendix Corporation in Sidney. After the war Kathleen and Don raised their four children and lived in Davenport, NY. From 1946 to 1968 she dedicated her life to being a housewife and mother. In 1968 she began employment at the State University of New York at Oneonta, retiring in 1978. After retirement, Kathleen and Don enjoyed traveling around the United States. She was a member of the Davenport United Methodist Church and was involved with the United Methodist Women, the Davenport Historical Society, the Basket Historical Society, and Past Noble Grand of the Charlotte Valley Rebekah Lodge. Kathleen loved church, community and family gatherings. She also enjoyed attending and cheering on the Charlotte Valley sports teams and other activities, especially when her children and grandchildren were participating. Kathleen is predeceased by her husband, Donald Haight, grandson, Collin Haight, and son-in-law John (Jack) Valentine. She is survived by her brother, Robert Milk, children John Haight (Lois), Donna Valentine, Eric Haight (Claudia) and Melanie Wolk (Douglas); grandchildren Seth Haight (Erin), Amy Valentine (Matt), Mark Valentine (Jennifer), Chelsea Haight, Lucas Haight, Sarah Haight and Austin Wolk; great grandchildren Alex, Owen and Charlie Haight, Jonathan Valentine, and Jack and Max Valentine. Calling hours and a funeral service will take place in late April. Burial will take place in Davenport Cemetery, Davenport. Contributions are asked to be made in her memory to the Collin E.
