Obituary of Margaret Yost Conine

Margaret (Peggy) Yost Conine, 77, died Saturday January 24, 2015 at Hudson Park Nursing Home in Albany, NY after a long illness. Peggy was born April 21, l937 in Delhi, NY the daughter of Robert and Theresa (Albisser) Yost. Peggy graduated from Delaware Academy and Central School in 1955, lettering in Choir. She was known for her beautiful voice and accomplished piano skills. She participated in several musical clubs, Harmony Girls, Double Trio and Girls Chorus. She also participated in NYSSMA and was featured accompanist in many student theatrical performances. Peggy's career first began working in Bresee's Department Store and in the evenings singing at Diana's Restaurant. As a lifelong resident of Delhi, she enjoyed many occupations throughout her life. She was active with church and enjoyed singing in the choir. She was especially fond of cats and could always be found bringing home a stray pet. Peggy was known throughout the town for her compassion to others and sunny disposition. She was frequently called upon to care and assist elderly members of the community. She is predeceased by her parents, brother Robert Yost, son Steven Aitken and grandson Jeffrey Aitken. She is survived by her sisters: Anne Moore of Torrance, CA and Ginny Hill of Greensboro, NC; her children, Robert (Judy) Aitken of Norwich, NY, Vicki (Steve) Goodyear of Clifton Park, NY, Tom (Linda) Aitken of Delhi and Barb Scherer (Mark Archibald) of Delhi, NY. She is also survived by grandchildren and great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews and cousins. Calling hours will take place on Saturday, January 31, 2015 from 11:00 AM until Memorial Service time at 12:00 PM in the MacArthur Funeral Home, Delhi, NY. Burial will be in the Spring in Woodland Cemetery, Delhi, NY. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Delaware County Humane Society in her memory.
