Obituary of Katherine P. Rose
Katherine (Katie) P. Rose, 85, of Delhi, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 30, 2015, with her loving family at her side at Ten Broeck Commons Nursing Home, Lake Katrine.
She was born April 25, 1929, in Delhi, the daughter of the late Hazel and Henrick Petersen.
On August 19, 1949, she married her husband Harry E. Rose Sr. and they enjoyed 61 years of marriage before his passing in 2010.
Katie was a graduate of Delaware Academy.
Katie loved being a wife, mother, aunt, grandmother and great-Grammie. She loved being a full-time housewife where her children and family were her pride and joy. She loved to sew, knit and bake. She loved her bingo buddies and she cherished her friends.
She was a member of the United Ministry Church, member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, both of Delhi, and a member of the Senior Citizens in Hamden. She was a past Den Mother for Cub Scouts, a past member of the Mount Marion Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
She was predeceased by her parents, Hazel and Henrick Petersen; brother, George; sister, Jean Petersen and her husband, Harry Rose Sr.
She is survived by her childen, Nancy (Donald) Wager of Coxsackie, Debra Rose of Delhi, Harry (Jackie) Rose of Saugerties, Faith (John) Dickson of Mount Marion, Virginia (Guy) Proper of Kingston, George (Lou) Petersen of Florida and Arnold Petersen of Florida: grandchildren, Diane (Alex) Gillies of Albany, Heidi (Joshua) Martino of Saugerties, Douglas Wager of Coxsackie, Jessica (William) Haynes of Florida, Sarah (Wilbur) Prutzman of Mount Marion, Elaine, Emily, Elizabeth and George Peterson of Florida, Amanda Dickson of Mt.Marion, Cassandra Proper of Glenmont, Krista Proper of Massachusetts, Guy Proper of Kingson, Melissa Petersen of Florida, Hans and Donald Schmidt of Saugerties, great-grandchildren, Caleb Rose-Mackey, Lexie Rose-Mackey, Gavin Martino, Madison Martino, Douglas Wager, Colton Petersen, Emma Petersen, Jayden Petersen, Bryligh Petersen, Kamrim Petersen and Wilbur Prutzman along with several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her memory to the United Ministry of Delhi, Court House Square, Delhi, NY 13753.
Calling hours will take place from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, April 2, 2015, at the MacArthur Funeral Home, Delhi.
Funeral services will be at 11 am Saturday, April 4, 2015, in United Ministry of Delhi, with the Rev. Dr. Duane D. Buddle officiating.
Burial will be at a later date in Woodland Cemetery, Delhi.
