Obituary of Nancy Mueller
It is with an overwhelming sadness that we acknowledge the passing of Nancy Mueller at age 74 on Sunday, April 12 after a protracted battle with Lung Cancer. She passed away in the bedroom of her Mountaintop home with her entire family at her bedside. Nancy worked for many years as an R.N. and later as a hospice nurse after graduating with honors from New Rochelle High School, New Rochelle Hospital School for Nursing and Pace University. She's survived by: her loving Husband Peter, children: Paul and Erika and nephew Sean.
Nan was a singularly authentic soul, at times even to her own detriment. Some would say, with a knowing smile "Her love was for always, but it was not always easy". She had her own internal compass and led each moment of her life by that measure. In her life adversities were simply traversed but never lamented, victories were rightfully acknowledged but rarely celebrated. Those who knew her recognized her as a force to be reckoned with. She was a ferocious advocate for those she cared about and if you had her in your corner you didn't need much else. I was lucky enough to be among those she loved fiercely and those who loved her in equal measure.
Born in 1942 at Yonkers General Hospital, Nancy was the first child of Carl Earl Pinard and Madalyn Price. Growing up in Larchmont, NY, Nancy took on the role of primary caregiver for her three younger siblings John, Janice and Jean, who she raised from toddlers to adolescence. As a young woman Nancy was a clearly great beauty and had no want for suitors, but as a nursing student in 1961 it was a serendipitous car repair that led to her meeting her future husband Peter Mueller when she pulled into his auto service garage in Pelham, NY. Six weeks after that meeting Nancy and Peter were married and remained together until her last day. After the family purchased the mountain top farm in 1979, Delhi became her true home. She spent her time; tending her farm and animals, cooking amazing meals for her family and helping her many friends in the community.
Nancy is predeceased by her siblings, John, Janice and Jean.
