Obituary of Martha Lockett

Martha A. Lockett, 87 of Harpersfield, passed away on Sunday, February 21, 2016, at Albany Medical Center, after suffering a stroke on Friday, February 19, 2016. Martha was born in Stamford on January 17, 1929 one of eight children born to the late Arthur and Clara (Hamilton) Morse. She was a stay- at- home mom who was devoted to her family. She loved to bake and for many years baked homemade bread on a weekly basis. Martha loved to bowl and continued until 3 years ago, when her bad hip wouldn't allow it. She continued to enjoy watching bowling on TV. Martha remained quite active and enjoyed many other activities. She was always curious and passionate about current events, remaining mentally sharp. Martha will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Bonnie J. Lockett of Harpersfield, her son Kevin C. Lockett of Saugerties, and her one surviving sister Eugenia (Genie) Dibble of Chittenango. She was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, Charles Oscar Lockett, who passed away on February 23, 2015. Since his death, Martha had resided at her daughter's home in Harpersfield. Graveside funeral services will be held at 1PM on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at Locust Hill Cemetery, Hobart. Arrangements are with MacArthur Funeral Home, Hobart.
