Obituary of Shirley Frandsen
Shirley "Marnie" Frandsen, daughter of the late Millard and Sadie Allen of Delhi, died on Sunday, January 22, 2017 from complications of ALS.
She graduated from Delaware Academy, class of 1951. Shirley was a stay at home mom, raising her three daughters. In the fall of 1979 she entered Delhi Tech's nursing program, graduating with honors in 1980 and became a NYS Licensed Practical Nurse. She was employed by the former Countryside Care Center in Delhi for 18 years.
Shirley was active in St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Bloomville, The Delhi Senior Social Club, The Red Hat Ladies and a knitting group. She was also a former member of the Delaware River State Company, she played "Doris" in many Christmas shows at the Walton Theatre.
Besides her parents, Shirley was predeceased by her daughters, Elisabeth and Deborah Armstrong; a brother, Merlyn Allen; and a son-in-law, Larry Smith.
She is survived by her daughters: Nancy Jacques of Delhi and Amy (David) Caviello of Rosendale; grandsons: Scott (Jamie) Smith of Delhi, Derek (Kim) Smith of Delhi and Alexander Coviello of Rosendale; three great-granddaughters: Paisley, Piper and Sadie Smith; sister: Alice Meres of Sebring, FL; brother Jack (Gayle) Allen of Walton; and son-in-law: Dan Jacques. She leaves behind many loving friends and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends and relatives are invited to call on the family from 4-7PM on Friday, January 27, 2017 at Hall & Peet Funeral Home, 134 Main Street, Delhi. The Episcopal Burial office and Holy Eucharist will be held at 11AM on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2017 at St. Paul's Church, River St., Bloomville, with the Rev. Laura Miller, Deacon Vicar, officiant. Final Commendation and burial will follow on the family plot in Woodland Cemetery, Delhi.
