Obituary of Terence Kaufman
Terence "Terry" Dean Kaufman, 29, of Andes, passed away suddenly Wednesday afternoon, February 25, 2015 at Albany Medical Center, following complications from a very short battle with acute Leukemia.
Born on March 9, 1985, he was the son of Thomas S. and Jo Ann (Cole) Kaufman.
Terry was a 2003 graduate of Delaware Academy and a 2008 graduate of Roberts Wesleyan College with a bacholor's degree in Criminal Justice. He enjoyed working as a camp counselor and director at 4-H Camp Shankitunk, and in the last few years, Terry has been employed as an assistant teacher at the SUNY Delhi Campus Child Care Center where he enjoyed spending time with his "kids."
He was married on June 28, 2009 to Lisa (Staiber) Kaufman; the couple is expecting their first child in July.
He enjoyed playing video games, especially Halo. Terry was an avid sports fan, rooting for the Dallas Cowboys, Atlanta Braves, Chicago Bulls and the Syracuse Orange men's basketball team. Not only was he a fan but a statistician. Often to the amazement of his friends and family, he could remember scores, precentages and facts about his faviortite teams.
Terry also loved to engage in conversation regarding polictical and religious views and concepts.
Besides his wife Lisa, Terry is survived by his parents, Thomas and Jo Ann Kaufman of DeLancey; grandmother Katherine Kaufman of Delhi; father- and mother-in-law, Paul and MaDonna Staiber of Davenport; sister-in-law Linda Staiber of Davenport; his Sheltie Molly; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Mr. Kaufman was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Kenneth Russell Kaufman, and maternal grandparents, Richard and Elizabeth Cole.
Friends and relatives are invited to call on the family from 3PM until 6PM on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at the Hall & Peet Funeral Home, 134 Main Street, Delhi. A funeral service will be held on at 2PM on Monday, March 2, at the Andes Presbyterian Church, 70 Delaware Ave., Andes, with reception and meal to follow the service.
Graveside services will be held at 10AM on Thursday, May 7, 2015 at Woodland Cemetery, Delhi
Contributions in memory of Terry may be made to the Terry Kaufman Memorial Fund. Donations will be accepted at any Delaware National Bank of Delhi branch, please make checks payable to Lisa Kaufman. The fund will be used for the future benefit of Terry and Lisa's child.
