Condolences
Ah the summer family get together at Aunt Gladys house. So much fun seeing the whole family getting together, laughing and having a good time
So many memories but here is one of my favorites. Back when my boys were just little guys, we decided we needed to take a road trip to visit Aunt Gladys up on the farm. So we packed my station wagon and headed north... me, my mom, my boys, Aunt Lillian, and my golden retriever Rusty. Spent the day outside of course, and we'd climb the big hills by the bales of hay. I have shared that picture often of Aunt Gladys and my mom and the boys. Rusty was busy running up and down the hills every time another animal caught her eye. That afternoon we put the boys down for their naps and we all settled in to watch a movie. Suddenly there was loud snoring and we were all trying to sneak a peak around to see who it was.... only to realize it was Rusty!!! So from then on, I have credited Aunt Gladys with teaching Rusty how to snore. :)
Or the family reunions... my favorite was the year that Al and George were videotaping each other videotaping the reunion while Diane and I made and drank pitchers of sangria.
Aunt Gladys was the aunt that no family was complete without. I will treasure my memories of her always. <3
My condolences to my friend of many years ago - Diane and her family on the loss of Gladys. She was a true matriarch and lived a long and good life.
My smiling recall of her goes back to the late 60's -there were four of us Bovina teenagers - Diane, myself, Mark and Richard. We couldn't wait to hang out together and we had a blast.
Now, Gladys did not always approve of our antics, however she always fed us, listened to our woes, and tried to make us wise and stay safe. She was a Mom to everyone.
Rest in peace, Gladys - Thanks for everything!

Saddened to hear of Gladys' passing. I particularly remember her when I worked at Russell's Store in the 70s and at LaFever excavating picnics. My strongest memory was a story my dad told. In December 1976 my sister and brother in law were seriously hurt in a car accident. My dad got word at work and realized he needed gas in his car. Gladys toss him her keys and said use my car - just like that. Dad decided to use his car but we never forgot Gladys' selfless act in offering her vehicle.
