Obituary of Richard D. Mattice

Richard Donald Mattice, 91, passed away on January 11, 2025 at A.O. Fox Hospital.

He was born in Stamford, NY to Donald and Lillian (Huff) Mattice on February 28, 1933. Known to family and friends as Dick, he grew up on the family farm in South Gilboa. 

Dick spent most of his working life as a proud Teamster, driving tractor trailer trucks for JA Carman and Sons. 

After retiring, he and his beloved wife Harriet spent summers at their home in South Gilboa and winters in Florida.  While home, Dick took great pride in keeping his lawns and gardens looking beautiful and was happiest while working outdoors. He was a hardworking, decent and honest man, always willing to lend a hand to anyone who needed it. Most of all, he was a devoted family man who gave everything to those he loved.

Dick was predeceased by his wife, best friend and soulmate Harriet Mattice and by his sisters, Doris Olmstead, Audrey Babione, Kathleen Villano, Marjorie Romaine and Celia Thacker.

He is survived by his cherished daughters and caretakers Stacy Mattice and Shellie Blevins, son, Donald C. Mattice, daughter Stephanie Mattice, grandchildren Jennifer DeMaurez, Matthew (Stacey) DeMaurez and Steven Mattice and great grandchildren Harper, Isabele and Oakley DeMaurez.

At Dick’s request, there will be no funeral service.
