Miss Martin was my absolute favorite teacher. I still remember things she taught about China. I enjoyed working with her on the yearbook staff and just enjoyed being around her overall. My sympathy to her family for their loss, she was truly an amazing woman and left behind so many memories!

My sincere sympathy for the loss of Mary. She was an icon at Greene Central School, noted as one of our "Favorite Teachers". This was not only because she was a great person, a huge support system, but also because she was an incredible teacher! She will be remembered fondly and lovingly. May she Rest in Eternal Peace.

She was my favorite teacher and I’ll never forget the movie Ghandi with her and how we talked about it for weeks. I then worked at both ARC in the presidents program coordinator and dealt with at risk youths in corrections. So, I remembered her name there and it was no surprise the impact she had on the troubled youth. I will always love history and psychology because of her. RIP.

My sincere condolences to Mary's family and friends. I am one of the many students she taught in Greene. I had her as my 9th grade Social Studies teacher back in the 80's and was lucky enough to reconnect with her through Facebook over the past few years. It was apparent that her passion for education and world issues had not wavered even 30+ years after I had her. As a teacher now, myself, I am always struck by how lucky I was to have so many great teachers in Greene. For a little town, we had quite an impressive group....and she was one of the best. In the later years when we were Facebook friends, I always enjoyed seeing her perspective on different things that would come up in discussions. I've missed seeing her around that community more recently, and had heard she wasn't doing well health wise. She will be greatly missed by all of those lucky enough to have been in her classroom. She was a special person for sure.

The South Kortright Central School Alumni Association would like to send their deepest condolences to Mary's family and friends. Mary was a graduating member of the SKCS class of 1962. During her years at SKCS, Mary was very active in many activities.

My condolences goes out to Mary's family & dear friends. Miss Martin was my 9th grade Social Studies teacher in Greene. I remember learning much about US & World History in her class. I actually became a teacher after getting out of the US Army. Next year will be my 30th year teaching elementary education in Florida. I belong to the Teachers Association of Lee County, I am a FEA Delegate for the State as well as NEA Delegate. I have also gone to Tallahassee to speak to Legislators on behalf of public education policies. I had some amazing teachers in Greene that have inspired me to go out and make a difference in the world. Mary Martin was one of them.
