Obituary of James Chandler Cable
James “Jim” Chandler Cable of Stamford, New York, passed away on May 9, 2024, at Bassett Hospital at the age of 85.
Jim was a proud veteran who served his country in the US Air Force for five years. He enjoyed his time in the service and often spoke fondly of his experiences.
After his military service, Jim embarked on a 40-year career as a skilled butcher for Victory Markets, Jim was proud that he was trained by a Classic German Butcher.
An avid reader, he could often be found with a book in hand. He enjoyed spending time outdoors tending to his garden and was a true baseball trivia expert. A lifelong Yankees supporter, Jim wasn't thrilled about the Darryl Strawberry acquisition, so he let go of his Yankees jacket at a bargain price. Jim's favorite pastime was spending time with his family. His playful jabs were a family tradition, always landing with a smile.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Patricia, and their children, Regina Cable, Jennifer (Chris) Hermann and Terry (John Keith) Lighte. He will also be dearly missed by his grandchildren Jared, Garrett, Jahna, Alex and Sydney and his canine companions, Leah, Cassie, and Ollie. In addition to his immediate family, Jim is survived by his sisters, Patty Wright and Cindy Baldwin, and his brother, Stanley Cable.
