Obituary of Osgood Kennon Peck
Osgood Kennon Peck (aka - OK Peck), 93, formerly of Walton, NY passed away on April 10, 2024 at A.O. Fox Nursing Home, in Oneonta, NY.
Born in Walton, on May 1, 1930 to the late Kennon & Constance (Osgood) Peck.
OK’s younger years were spent growing up in Granton until the construction of the Cannonsville Reservoir began. Then, at the age of 16, OK and his parents moved to Walton. He was a graduate of the Walton Central School. After high school OK was drafted into the US Army, where he worked as a carpenter in Germany from 1951-1953. After his honorable discharge, OK worked at Scintilla in Sidney, which is now known as Amphenol Aerospace.
On December 1, 1956, OK married the love of his life Virginia “Ginger” Smith. Then in 1964 he and his family moved to Indiana where he attended Tri-State University and earned a degree in Civil Engineering. As a civil engineer, OK worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad and then the Civilian Corps of Army Engineers, until retirement. Following his retirement, he and his family moved back to Walton, where he opened his own machining and welding shop.
OK was a talented man, machinist, and welder. He could build or fix just about anything from farm machinery to airplanes. His hobbies included working on small engines, fishing, playing bridge, watching football, smoking his pipe, and telling jokes. He enjoyed traveling to Zephyrhills, FL during the winter months with his wife Ginger, and he enjoyed riding his tricycle around the streets of Buffalo. He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Walton, and most importantly he was a family man that always worked hard to provide for his family. OK was well loved and will be greatly missed.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Ginger in 2009; uncle: Dr. Abel Peck; and son-in-law: Leslie Gardepe.
He is survived by three children: Margery “Kathy” Lee, William (Cornelia) Peck, and Robert (Katerina) Peck; six grandchildren: Ashley (Derrick) Scobie, Zachary (Stacey) Haverly, Kyle (Alejandra) Peck, Kymani Peck, Javon Peck, and Kennon Peck; and three great-grandchildren: Lindsey Wright, Dakota Hoyt, and Adeline Haverly.
