Obituary of Jane Howard

Jane Howard, 94, of Delhi, passed away Saturday evening, September 30, 2023 at O’Connor Hospital in Delhi.

Born on December 29, 1928 in Bovina, Jane was the daughter of the late Wilford and Viola (Russell) Barnhart.

She was married to Arthur J. Howard, Jr. on August 20, 1949 in Bovina Center.

Jane was employed at several places over the years, including the Delhi 5/10 store, Dairy Delight, Normans Studio and as a Telephone Operator, she also helped run the family dairy farm with her husband Arthur.

She enjoyed gardening, knitting and sewing.  Jane loved to dance and also enjoyed spending time with Arthur camping and traveling.

Besides her parents, Jane was predeceased by her siblings: Herbert, Robert, Sonny and Dot.

Jane is survived by her husband or 74 years: Arthur Howard, Jr. of Delhi; four children: Robert Howard of Delhi, Mark (Lu-Ann Powell) Howard of Delhi, Tom (Alysia) Howard of Oneonta and Patty Perkins of North Carolina; six grandchildren: Chris (Jess), Ken (Shannon), Kristen, Emily, Rachael (Gabe) and Ryan; ten great-grandchildren; a sister: Edith Platt of Red Hook; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A celebration of Jane’s life was held on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at the First Presbyterian Church of Delhi, 4 Clinton Street, Delhi, NY with the Rev. Jamie Tyrell.  

In lieu of flowers contributions in Jane’s memory can be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Delhi.
