Obituary of Alberta F. Starbird

Alberta Francenna Starbird, 81, of North Harpersfield, passed away at Albany Medical Center late Saturday evening, February 4, 2023.

Born on August 26, 1941 in Stoneham, ME, Alberta was the daughter of the late Roscoe and Jeanette (Adams) Hill.

She started her healthcare career as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Robinson Terrace Nursing Home, eventually going on to become a Licensed Practical Nurse by graduating from the Otsego County BOCES Nursing Program in 1992, Alberta worked for Hospice, and she then went on to do private duty and home nursing care with AM-PM Care until her retirement.

Alberta has a gifted green thumb and grew beautiful vegetable and flower gardens.  She enjoyed ceramics and diamond painting.  She also was a gifted baker and enjoyed cake decorating.

Besides her parents, Alberta was predeceased by her first husband: Harold Decker, Sr.; her second husband: Glenn Starbird; a son: Richard Decker; a sister: Mabel Morrison, along with two infant great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her children: Caroline Decker of N. Harpersfield, Harold (Kathleen) Decker, Jr. of Mars Hill, ME, Mark (June) Decker of Davenport and Fred (Charlena) Decker of Jefferson; twelve grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Alberta’s life will be held at 2pm on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at the Jefferson Fire Department Hall, Jefferson, NY
