Obituary of Joseph J. Gustin, Jr.
Joseph J. Gustin, Jr., 61, of Prattsville formerly of Conesville, suddenly passed away at his daughter’s home in West Oneonta on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, while visiting for the Holiday.
Born on November 20, 1961, in Stamford, Joseph was the son of the late Joseph J. and Melda (Tompkins) Gustin, Sr.
Joseph worked on several area farms, he worked for the town of Conesville Highway Dept. and then worked several years in the maintenance department at Hunter Ski Mountain.
Mr. Gustin was married to Deniece Dutcher Gustin in 1998, she passed away on June 14, 2014.
He loved animals, including farm animals, goats, chickens, cows and would often bring them home for his children to enjoy. Joseph loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. His greatest joy was his family, Joseph had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren.
Besides his parents and wife, Joseph was predeceased by his brother: Kenneth Gustin; and a sister: Dorothy Schwab.
Joseph is survived by three children: Paul (Miranda Higgins) Ostrom of Hunter, Jessika (Bradley Wager) Ostrom of West Oneonta and Rachel (Shawn Speenburgh) Gustin of East Durham; two grandchildren: Equality and Kiarra Wager; sister: Amy (Nick) Cudemo of Gilboa; along with several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and cousins.
Friends and relatives are invited to call on the family from 1-3PM on Friday, December 2, 2022, at the MacArthur Funeral Home, 15 Buntline Drive, Stamford where celebration of Joseph’s life will follow at 3PM.
In lieu of flowers contributions in memory of Joseph can be made to the Conesville Fire Department or to a charity of one’s choice.
