Obituary of John W. Carnicelli

John W. Carnicelli, 59, of Fly Creek, passed away on Friday, November 18, 2022 at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown with his family and life partner by his side.  He was best known to many as “Long Haired Johnny”.

Born on December 20, 1962 in Oneonta, the son of the late Laurence R. and Lillian L. (Mahar) Carnicelli.

John was a stone mason most of his life, where he continued to work even through the last 15 months battling cancer.

He enjoyed boating on Otsego Lake with family and friends.

Besides his parents, John was predeceased by his brothers and a sister-in-law: Laurence T. Carnicelli and Murray (Linda) Carnicelli.

He is survived by his life partner: Samantha “Sam” Augur; two children: Christine (Gabriel) Perez and Johnathan Carnicelli; granddaughters: Mclay Carnicelli, Alycia and Marieana Romero; great-granddaughters: Ximena Romero and Gabriel Hernandez; sister: Julia (Bruno) Caseiani; brother: Phillip (Annette) Carnicelli; two uncles; an aunt; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

At John’s request there will be no services at this time.  The family will announce a celebration of life for the summer of 2023.
