Obituary of Arthur Epstein
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Arthur Yale Epstein. Arthur was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and friend to both humans and animals alike. Arthur passed peacefully on November 16th, 2022, due to illness.
Arthur was born to Tilly and Frank Epstein on February 22nd 1946 in Brooklyn, NY. Arthur spent his formative years in Brooklyn where he graduated from Lafayette High School and later attended The City College of New York in Manhattan. It was In Manhattan, in the early 1970s that he met his wife Marjatta. After the briefest of courtships, they fell in love and enjoyed 51 years of marriage together, separated now only by his passing. After raising their children in NYC, they relocated to beautiful Schoharie County where they enjoyed all aspects of country life and made wonderful friends and memories together. Arthur worked hard to provide an excellent life for his family; always instilling the importance of education, familial pride, a strong work ethic, kindness and loyalty. Arthur would stop at nothing to ensure that his family and loved ones were safe and protected even if it meant putting himself in harm’s way.
He was adored by his wife, two children and all 5 of his grandchildren. Being a grandfather came naturally to Arthur, as all of the grandkids loved his goofy nature and loved visiting the Epstein “farm”. His charisma, intelligence and sense of humor made him loved by all that had the honor of knowing him. Arthur never met an animal he didn’t love, and that feeling was reciprocated by all animals whose lives he touched.
Arthur is survived by his wife Marjatta Epstein, their children Erik and Nina, their five grandchildren Andrew, Sophie, Tyler, Chloe and Anja, daughter in law Debra Epstein and Son in law Mike Marcotte.
In lieu of a funeral, there will be a celebration of life at a future date to be announced.
