Obituary of Dennis Brockway

Dennis Brockway, a lifetime resident of Township, near Hobart, passed away on Monday, August 29, 2022.  He was surrounded by his loving wife of 56 years, Mary, his sons Matthew and Hugh, and his sister Barb Ackerley.

Denny was born March 10, 1942, in Hobart, NY. 

Denny grew up in Hobart Township, graduated from South Kortright High School, and SUNY Morrisville College in 1963.  Denny a lifetime farmer, took over his father’s dairy farm in Township and became the 5^th generation Brockway to farm in the Township Valley.  Dennis and Mary operated their dairy farm and Country Pride cheese business for decades.

Denny was friends with everyone and treated all with his great sense of humor.  If he wasn’t selling cheese at a local fair, you could usually find him fishing, playing golf, watching his beloved Red Sox or spending time with Mary. 

He is survived by his wife Mary, children Matt (Rebecca) of West Hartford, CT and Hugh (LeeAnn) of Leesburg, VA and grandchildren: Grady, John, Benjamin, Jill, and Tripp, his sister Barbara Ackerley (Donald) and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Denny and Mary are blessed with great friends, family, and neighbors who have helped over the years.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 4^th, at 1:00 pm at the Township Methodist Church, Hobart, NY, with a reception to follow.
