Obituary of Wanetta Rose Porter

Wanetta Rose Porter, 91, of Stamford passed away on Friday, August 12, 2022 at Robinson Terrace Nursing Home.

Born on September 25, 1930 in Jefferson, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Ella Wayman

Wanetta cleaned homes for several area families. She enjoyed dancing and was a master bargain hunter at the local garage and lawn sales.

She was predeceased by her husband: Frank Porter and an infant daughter: Linda Porter.

Wanetta is survived by her children: Ricky (Maxine) Porter of Prattsville, Reggie (Marlene Wintermute) Porter of Mayfield, Ronnie Porter of Scotia, Randy Porter of South Kortright and Elaine (John) Sobey of Oneonta; eighteen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; her companion: Art Wood of Stamford; sister: Patricia VanNortwick of South Kortright; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling Hours will be held from 5-8PM on Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at the MacArthur Funeral Home, 15 Buntline Drive, Stamford, where a funeral service will be held at noon on Wednesday with the Rev. Waylon Bray.  Burial will follow at Stamford Cemetery.
