Obituary of Adelbert Alan Harder
Adelbert Alan Harder, 75, of DeLancey, passed away early Monday Morning, July 25, 2022 at Robinson Terrace Nursing Home, Stamford.
Born on May 27, 1947, in Delhi, Alan was the son of the late Maurice and Catherine (Brown) Harder.
Alan served in the US Army from 1967 until his honorable discharge as a Sergeant in 1970.
He retired in 2002 from Delaware Academy in Delhi as head custodian, where he worked for over 30 years.
Mr. Harder was married to his wife of 47 years, Cynthia (Greene) Harder on June 28, 1975.
Alan enjoyed spending time with his family, often playing pinochle. He had great pride in his home and spent hours maintaining and improving his property.
Besides his parents, Alan was predeceased by his siblings: Nancy, Billy and Clyde.
He is survived by his wife: Cynthia Harder of DeLancey; children: Robert Harder of Austin, TX, Christina (Harry) Gardner of DeLancey and Fran (Shawn) Ackerly of DeLancey; grandchildren: Diman (Angela) Salil, Catherine Gardner, Amber Gardner, Kendra (Michael Cardillo) Ackerly, Sarah Ackerly and Lane Ackerly; great-grandchildren: Coleson and Saria; sisters-in-law: Joanne Harder, Edie Campbell, Kathleen McCalib, Ruth Keenan and Pattie Speenburgh; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A graveside service will be held at 1PM on Friday, August 5, 2022, at Ouleout Valley Cemetery, Franklin, followed by a celebration of life at Delhi Fire Department, Delhi.
