Obituary of Wilma Edna Miller
On April 5th, 1926, Wilma Edna Dibble arrived into the roaring ‘20s, daughter of Joseph Isacc and Mildred (All) Dibble. On the Hobart, NY family farm, she grew up with ten brothers and sisters, Helen (Riggs), Georgia (Warden), Leota (Wright), Arlene, Chauncey, Theodore, Leonard, Arnold, Frederic keeping a long family tradition bringing food to the country as all family farms did at the time. Her many stories of being raised on Gunhouse Hill brought joy and revelation of another time to her children and grandchildren,
She fell in love with Horace Francis Miller while picking raspberries as a teenager in a patch near her childhood home in Hobart, and was married July 25th, 1945, after Horace returned from the battlefields of France, wounded and disabled. Together they raised their five children, Terrace (Teri) Bartos of Richmondville, Bonnie (George) Ericson, now of Blenheim Hill, Blenheim, Gordon (Theresa) of Jefferson, Jeffry (Kathleen) now of Savannah, Georgia, and Timothy (Lisa), of Kelseyville, California on their dairy farm in Jefferson, NY.
As a young mother, Wilma encountered the life changing gift of salvation from Jesus Christ, and dedicated every waking moment to following Him. This joy and comfort could be found in every conversation; the generosity and charity that could always be found in her home came from that large friendly family in which she grew up, but found it’s blessing from her Savior, Jesus and the Holy Spirit so easily observed in her home. Every day she found another soul in which to share her joy.
On January 9, 2021 she received her final reward, and went to join her Savior, Jesus in eternity; “Well done! Good and faithful servant.”
Especially proud of her fifteen grandchildren of educators. researchers, businessmen, military officers, ranchers, web designers, musicians, public servants, and mothers and fathers of her 26 great grandchildren, she found much joy sharing her faith and stories of days gone by. Teri raised three, Denise ((Nathan) Cunningham, Jeremy (Audra) Bartos, Edward (Heather) Bartos; Bonnie raised two, Curtis (Shannon) Ericson, and Tracey (Thomas) Aasbo; Gordon raised three, Jennifer (Paul) Watson, Rebecca (Matthew) Evans, and Jonathan (Jessie) Miller: Jeff has four sons, Aaron (Angela), Adam (Vanessa), Daniel (Alison) and Gabriel (Amy) Miller; Tim three, Joshua (Emily), Paul, and Rachel (Travis) Cooke.
Sadly, she lost her beloved Horace in 1981 as well as his sister Dora (Miller) Austin. She was beaten to the Eternal Dance by her brothers and sisters and many of their spouses; Helen and Ernest, Georgia and Marshall, Leota and William, Chauncey and Dorothy, Leonard and Caryl, Arlene, Theodore, Arnold and Frederic. She was also predeceased by her beloved Son-in-law Edward Bartos.
Along with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, she is survived by her sisters-in-law, Ruth (Arnold) Dibble, an ever present help, Francis (Theodore) Darrah, and Eugenia (Frederic) Dibble. Her mother, Mildred, found blessing in providing a home to young foster children; one child, George Bronson, found a home in the Dibble house, where he remained into his adulthood. He is to this day a brother in spirit to Wilma.
She would most like to be remembered for her unfading, constant love, devotion, and faithfulness to her family and her Lord Jesus Christ and His priceless gift of Salvation to each and every one of us. Her gift was to continually share her faith and love for Jesus. All can live Eternity in Heaven with Him if we simply ask Him into our hearts. He paid the unspeakable price with His shed blood. Please accept this gift today, if you have not done so already.
