Obituary of Lester Savarese
Lester Savarese, 83, of Summit passed away on December 22, 2020 at Delhi Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Delhi.
Born on March 19, 1937 in New York City, Lester was the son of the late Salvatore J. and Maude (Reekie) Savarese.
Lester proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1954-1957 and was a bus driver for the MTA in New York City. After retirement, Lester moved to Summit. In his retirement he drove Coach buses, was the dog control officer for town of Summit and a volunteer for the Summit EMT squad and the Schoharie County Sheriffs, Rescue and Tactical Force.
Lester was a true outdoorsman and enjoyed camping and riding 4-wheelers. He also loved to travel, play the harmonica, and race his car #177 on Long Island with his best friend Bob Barton which he did for many years.
Besides his parents, Lester was predeceased by his first and second wives: Viola Savarese and Pat Savarese, respectively. He was also predeceased by his father in-law Vincent J. Tompkins.
He is survived by his third wife: Jean T. Savarese of Jefferson; children of Viola: Daniel (Karen) Savarese, Philip (Nancy) Savarese, and Salvatore (Colleen) Savarese, Mike Savarese; step-child of Pat: Dawn (Clay) Fife, step-children of Jean: Fredrick (Tabitha) Lee and Marianne (Jason) Mattern;15 grandchildren.
