Obituary of Shirley M. Yeary

Shirley M. Yeary, 87 of Delhi, passed away on the morning of March 27, 2020 at Delhi Rehabilitation and Nursing Center following a long illness. Born on January 22, 1933 in Kelly Corners, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (VanSteenburg) Sprague. Shirley worked for the Delhi Telephone Company for over 32 years. Mrs. Yeary was married to James S. Yeary on May 12, 1951, who predeceased her. Shirley was an avid bowler and enjoyed going to tournaments, she was also enjoyed playing softball. Shirley was always willing to help whoever needed it, be it family or friend. Besides her husband, Shirley was predeceased by her son: Rick; and siblings: Janice, Cheryl, Beatrice, Beryl, Eleanor, Freda, Ruby, Clayton, Victor, Asher, Hector, Mitchell and Johnny. She is survived by her sons: Michael (Dennise) Yeary and Tim Yeary; daughter-in-law: Frances Yeary; five grandchildren, James, Michele (Micah), Christopher, Erika (George) and Rick (Shanni), eight great-grandchildren; two sisters: Doris (Albert) Coss and Betty Martin; sisters-in-law: Margaret Dougherty and Lillian Coss; and several nieces nephews and cousins. Private visitation and graveside services were held. Private burial took place at Hamden Cemetery. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
