Obituary of Betty Krull

Ruth E. “Betty” Krull, 93, of Stamford, passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at her home. Born on June 23, 1926 in Westtown, NY, she was the daughter of the late Harry S. and Nellie V. Elmer. Betty graduated from Middletown High School in Middletown, NY in June of 1944. She was the wife of Merritt H. “Buzz” Krull, whom she married in Westtown, on July 20, 1947. Buzz was employed by Agway for many years and they lived in several different areas of NY, NJ and PA, finally settling in Stamford, NY. Her beloved Buzz died on September 29, 1980. Betty put her years of business and management skills to work at the former Scotch Valley Ski Center, which she managed for approximately 18 years, until her retirement. She was a member of the Westtown Presbyterian Church and attended the Stamford Presbyterian Church. An avid gardener, Betty was well-known for her beautiful flowers, even her mailbox overflowed with flowers. She was also an animal lover, and always had either a dog or cat in residence with her. Besides her husband and parents, Betty was predeceased by her brother, Maurice Plumley. She is survived by her nieces and nephews: James, Carol, Stewart, Lisa and Becket Plumley; her special friend: Stanley Williamson. At Betty’s request there will be no calling hours or formal funeral services. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
