Obituary of Warren E. Rowlands

Warren E. Rowlands, 89, of Delhi, passed away on January 9, 2019 at O’Connor Hospital surrounded by his family.

Born on October 6, 1929 in Mineola, NY, he was the son of the late Sidney and Anita (Buckhout) Rowlands. 

Warren was married to his wife of 68 years, Muriel (Fuchs) Rowlands on May 27, 1950.

Mr. Rowlands proudly served his country in the US Army from 1947-1951.

He retired from the Delaware County Highway Department where he was a welder by trade.

Warren enjoyed baseball, which he played in his younger years and enjoyed following the NY Mets. He was a league bowler for many years, played golf and enjoyed hunting.  He was very handy and could fix most anything. He enjoyed reading about science and history.  He and his wife, Muriel, enjoyed traveling to visit relatives.

Mr. Rowlands was a 63-year member of Bethpage-Hicksville Lodge #975 F&AM. He was also a member of the West Delhi Presbyterian Church.

His family includes his wife: Muriel Rowlands of Delhi; children: Deb Fleming of Delhi, Russ Rowlands of Delhi and Phil Rowlands of Albany and their spouses; Steven Fleming, Sue Pickens and Sylvia Rowlands; grandchildren: Kathryn, Margot, Matthew, Crystal, Lori, Derek, Jordan, Brandon, Brianna, Kellin, Raisa and Cassidy; 17 great-grandchildren; a brother and sister in-law: Kenneth and Carole Rowlands of Long Island, and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins.

Friends and relatives are invited to call on the family from 10:30 am - 11:30 am on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at the West Delhi Presbyterian Church, 45 Sutherland Road (off Co. Hwy 16) Delhi, where a celebration of life will follow at 11:30 with the Rev. Connie Stone.  A luncheon will follow in the Church Fellowship Hall.

The family wishes to share their gratitude with the nursing staff at the Bassett Healthcare Network – O’Connor Hospital for the care given to Warren and the family during his final days.
