Harold and I served on the Harpersfield Town Board for 12 years and his love of family, farming and people was strongly evident and made him one-of-a-kind. I admired him and missed his wisdom when he retired from the board. Sending sympathy on your loss.
In 1970 I made my first farm call in Stamford to Bedford Farms. In 2004 as I made ready to leave the area for a Cornell position I made my last farm call from Stamford to Bedford Farms. I was privileged to know Harold over that time and Linda says we were, even more so, blessed to have his acquaintance. Very often I had to leave extra time on leaving a farm visit and off the clock for Harold's stories. Even the humorous ones usually contained an insight or pearl of wisdom. Over his many years he made his community a better place and by extension the world also. His legacy is worthy of emulation and is presence missed. Condolences to the Bedford family.
We are sorry for your loss. I remember Harold as a man of principle who lead courageously and unselfishly as the chairman of the Farm Credit board of directors. Still today, I am reminded of his sage words when facing difficulty and I quote him often. I hope you find strength in the fond memories of this great man.
