Obituary of Marjorie O. Trelease

Marjorie Ann Oliver Trelease passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at the age of 88.  As a lifelong resident of Delhi, NY

She graduated from Delaware Academy in 1948. She participated in many school sports and clubs and as secretary of her class would go on to help organize (and enjoy) her class reunions until she lost her sight in 2015. She grew up helping in her parent's diner and then worked at Security Mutual Fire Insurance Company from 1948-1955. She was an active member of the United Ministry Church where she sang in the choir for over 50 years, and was an assistant at the Church play school. She also spent many years volunteering at the Delaware County Infirmary and at O'Conner Hospital. She liked to spend Friday nights helping out at the Delhi Village Fair on the Square.

Marge was the daughter of John C. Oliver and Letitia Simmons Oliver Scrimshaw. She is predeceased by her brothers Arthur Oliver (Virginia Oliver), John Oliver (Barbara Oliver), her sister Arlene Oliver Hood (Douglas Hood), her loving husband William H. Trelease, whom she married in 1953, and her step-father Roy Scrimshaw Sr. 

Family was always important to Marge and she enjoyed hosting holiday dinners, and parties. She will be forever remembered by her step-brother, Roy Scrimshaw (Sally Elliott Scrimshaw). Her children William H. Trelease Jr. (Marjorie Elliott Trelease), Donald Trelease (Michele VanTyle Trelease), and Claudia Trelease Weber (Jerry Weber). Her grandchildren Rosalynn Trelease, Melanie Trelease Coleman (Jacob Coleman), Hillary Trelease (Wyatt Green), and Aaron Trelease (Natalie Carter Trelease). Her great-grandsons; Brycen, Blaine and Brock Coleman and Rowan Green. And her nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. 

In her spare time, Marge liked to read, sew, tackle house projects, refinish furniture, garden and help her family with their projects. Her love of life, kind heart and contagious laugh will be missed by all.

Graveside Committal services will be held at 11AM on Friday, June 29, 2018 at Woodland Cemetery, Delhi. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Delhi Fire Department, a charity of your choice or funding for Cancer research.
