Obituary of Ruth Emma Kelly
BLOOMVILLE _ Ruth Emma Kelly, 94, of Bloomville, passed away Monday, March 28, 2011, at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital, Oneonta.
She was born on Oct. 11, 1916, in St. Louis, Mo., the daughter of the late Dewey and Amelia Telesky.
Ruth graduated from Riverview Gardens High School, St. Louis, in 1933. Her family moved shortly after that to New York State.
In 1937, she married Cecil R. Cairns and in 1939, went to beauticians school in Albany. She then operated Charm Centre Beauty Shop for many years from her home.
She was a gifted singer and sang very often in St. Louis.
She was active for many years at the Delhi Community Church. Ruth taught Sunday School for 40 plus years and was a Pioneer Girls Leader. She was chairman of the Social Committee and baked and decorated cakes for many occasions.
Ruth was on the Delaware County Cooperative Extension Committee and was involved in sales with Amway and Home Interiors.
She enjoyed reading her Bible and read it cover to cover several years in a row. Ruth was a Prayer Warrior and prayed faithfully for many people and ministries. She also had a great phone ministry which encouraged many people.
Ruth is survived by one daughter, Brenda J. (Leon) Czaja, Bloomville; and son, Cecil C. (June) Cairns of LaGrange, Ohio; six granddaughters, Breanna (Casey) Craft, Bethany Czaja of Bloomville, Brittany (Scott) Johnston of East Meredith, Blythe Czaja of Cobleskill, Kim (Dan) Bieri of Ohio and Kellie (Tom) Davidson of Alabama; five grandsons, Douglas (Marcy) Cairns of Ohio, Brian (Suzanne) Cairns of Georgia, Keith (Terri) Czaja of Philadelphia, Mark (Lisa) Czaja of Connecticut and Shawn (Aggie) Czaja of Florida; and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Cecil R. Cairns in 1944; and by her second husband, Reginald J. Kelly in 1995; her parents, Dewey (1975) and Amelia (1971) Telesky; and her brothers, Samuel and James.
The family will receive friends at the MacArthur Funeral Home, Delhi, from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, April 1, 2011.
Funeral services will take place at l p.m. Saturday, April 2, 2011, in Delhi Community Church with Pastor Derek Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Bloomville.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Ruth Kelly Memorial at Delhi Community Church.
Arrangements are with the MacArthur Funeral Home, Delhi.
