Obituary of Jerry H. Sherman
SOUTH KORTRIGHT _ Jerry H. Sherman, 63, of South Kortright, passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2011, at home.
He was born March 20, 1948, in Stamford, the son of James and Dorothy (Bishop) Sherman.
He was a graduate of Stamford Central School and SUNY Cobleskill.
A proud veteran of the United States Army, Jerry served in Vietnam. He enjoyed membership in the Stamford VFW and American Legion Post 1379 in Stamford.
Previously he was manager of Stamford Agway and currently served many local businesses as owner of M & M Pest Control.
Mr. Sherman is survived by Beverly McIntosh of South Kortright; his mother, Dorothy Sherman, Sun City Center, Fla.; two sons, Eric Sherman and his wife, Lorelle of Turin, and Aaron Sherman and his friend, Linda of Thermont, Md.; grandchildren, Ethan, Carl, Ella, Emily and Dylan; his sisters, Bonnie Wiegel of Sun City Center, Fla., and Gail Decker of Watertown, Wis.; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He will also be missed by his extended family, Betsy and Todd Stinson and their children, Cody and Kaitlyn, South Kortright and Bridgett and Preston Buff, Mt. Pleasant, Tenn.
He was predeceased by his wife, Jean Williams Sherman; and his father, James Sherman.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, May 6, 2011, in Harpersfield Cemetery, Harpersfield, with Frances Reed officiating. There will be an Honor Guard from the Stamford American Legion Post 1379.
