Obituary of Harmon Earl More
Harmon "Earl" More, 80, of Davenport Center, passed away on Friday, May 27, 2011 at home, surrounded by family after a long battle with cancer.
He was born Feb. 4, 1931, in Davenport, the son of Harmon and Norma (Wood) More.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Eleda (Podgie) Woodward More, of Davenport Center; two daughters, Robin (Ernie) Hoag, Charlotte, N.C. and Bridget of Davenport Center; six grandchildren, Alexandria, Kylie, Savannah, Emily, Evan, and Lily; three sisters, Mabel (Ralph), Lucielle and Virginia; a sister-in-law, Janet; and many nieces, nephews and friends, including a special friend, Ann Marie, and the nurses from Hospice also survive.
He was predeceased by his parents and a brother, Gordon.
Mr. More served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1952 to 1954.
A lifelong area resident, he was a truck driver for Wayne Hymers at Otsego Auto Crushers in Oneonta and for the Town of Davenport.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 31, 2011, with the Rev. Nancy Russell, officiating, at the MacArthur Funeral Home, Davenport. Calling hours will precede the service from noon to 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place at a later date in Davenport Cemetery.
