Obituary of Marilyn Resta
DELHI
Marilyn Resta, 82, of Delhi and formerly of Commack, LI, passed away on Tuesday, June 07, 2011, at AO Fox Hospital, Oneonta, after a very courageous battle with cancer.
She was born August 27, 1928 in Brooklyn the daughter of John and Irene (DeMartini) Duni. She married Anthony E. Resta on April 22, 1950 in Brooklyn.
A 19 year resident of Delhi, Marilyn was employed by the Commack LI School District as a cafeteria manager/cook for over 20 years.
Marilyn was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother who loved spending time with her family and her beloved grandchildren. She enjoyed boating, fishing and cooking for her family, but her greatest joy was watching her grandchildren at their numerous sporting events. She was so proud of all of them.
Marilyn was a member of the St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, Delhi.
She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Anthony E. Resta of Delhi; 2 daughters, Rene and "Dr. Dave" Evans of Delhi, and Jeanie and Gordon Nichols of Bloomville; 3 grandchildren, Jordan Nichols, Katie Darling and JJ Darling; a sister, Pat Antonucci of Brooklyn; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a brother and sister in law, John and Ruth Duni; and a brother in law, Edwin Antonucci.
Calling hours will take place on Sunday, June 12, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the MacArthur Funeral Home, Delhi. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 13, 2011 at 11 a.m. at St Peter's Roman Catholic Church, Delhi with Rev. Edward J. Golding officiating.
Burial will take place in Woodland Cemetery, Delhi.
