Obituary of Ethel E. Edwards

ANDES Ethel E. Edwards, 105 of Andes, passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at her home in Andes, surrounded by her family. She was born on July 12, 1905 on Dingle Hill in the Town of Andes, the daughter of Grant and Annabelle (Butler) Brisbane. She married Clide H. Edwards on October 9, 1926 in Delhi. They celebrated 50 years of marriage together. He predeceased her on June 22, 1977. A life-long area resident and home maker, Ethel was a member of the Andes United Presbyterian Church where she was treasurer for over 20 years. She also enjoyed membership in the Andes Grange, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Andes UP Church and the Andes Forum. She enjoyed gardening, baking, sewing and crafting projects. Watching the humming birds eat at her feeder was her favorite hobby. Ethel is survived by 3 children, son Gordon and Jane Edwards of Durham, NC; daughter, Janet and Robert Gerace of Fairport; and daughter, Anne and David Russell of Clay; grandchildren, James (Jacki) Gerace, Tom (Tina) Gerace, Deborah (Ed) Elderbroom, Michael (Robyn) Russell, Douglas (Irina) Edwards, Scott (Liz) Edwards, Karen (Rolando) Saavedra; great grandchildren, Justin, Jacob, and Francesca Gerace, Jennifer and Tiffany Elderbroom, Octavio Saavedra, (Max) Edwards; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also predeceased by her brothers, Robert and Grant Brisbane. A graveside service will take place on Saturday, July 2, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the Andes Cemetery, Andes with Rev. Bert More officiating. There will be no calling hours.
