Obituary of Chester L. McAdams
Chester L. McAdams, Jr. of Delhi, passed away early Monday morning, October 31, 2016 at his home surround by his family, following a long illness.
Born on April 7, 1936 in Laurens, He was the son of the late Chester L. and Carrie (Burke) McAdams, Sr.
Chet worked for over 30 years for SUNY Delhi as a Stationary Engineer, retiring in 1997. Mr. McAdams also served in the NY Army National Guard from 1954 until 1961.
He was married to Shirley I. (Cutting) McAdams on September 30, 1972 in Delhi, the couple enjoyed 33 years of marriage until her passing on September 25, 2005.
Mr. McAdams was a past member of the Delhi Fire Department and was an active member of the Departments EMS squad. He was a member of the Columbus Community Church in South New Berlin. Chet was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing, spending time with family and attending his children and grandchildren's sporting events. He was a regular visitor to Brooks BBQ in Oneonta, where he enjoyed the food and people there.
He is surivived by his children: Kimberly (Beau) Bracchy of DeLancey, Kelly (Brett Rockefeller) Clark of Bloomville, Chester (Jackie) McAdams III of Oneonta, Cecelia Britton of North Carolina, Douglas (Debbie) McAdams of Oneonta and Renea Verner of Texas; grandchildren: Raegan, Bryce and Tanner Bracchy, Taylor, Darin and Kyle Clark, Tori Rockefeller, Chris, Emily, Sarah and Anna McAdams, along with several other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends and relatives are invited to call on the family from 4-7PM on Wednesday, Nov 2, at the MacArthur Funeral Home. Where a funeral service will be held on Thursday, Nov 3, at 11AM with the Rev. Stephen Reese and Rev. Mitchell Bush officiating. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery, Delhi.
