Obituary of John T. Hamilton
DELHI _ John T. (Jack) Hamilton Sr., lifelong resident of Delhi, passed away Sunday, Dec. 4, 2011, at his home with his family by his side.
Born May 11, 1927, Jack was married to Theresa (Te) Hamilton for 61 years. Jack was born in Andes, served in the Navy after graduation from Delaware Academy, attended Syracuse University and became President of Delhi Motor Co. In addition to his many and varied local business endeavors, Jack devoted his time and fundraising efforts to many community organizations and projects.
He was a founding member of the Delhi College Golf Course and a member and past president of the Delaware Academy School Board.
Jack is survived by his loving wife and partner, Te; their son, Mark Hamilton and his wife, Bonnie of Delhi, son, Peter Hamilton and his wife, Jane of Delhi; daughter, Anne Hamilton-Kean and her husband, Rick of Hawley, Mass.; daughter-in-law, Julia Hamilton of Delmar; granddaughter, Amanda Walsh and her husband, Ryan; and great-grandsons, Rowan and Brennan of Delhi; granddaughter, Katherine (Kate) Hamilton of Middletown; grandson, John T. Hamilton III (JT) and his wife, Whitney of Brooklyn; grandson, Peter J. Hamilton II (PJ) and his wife, Darcy of Norwood, Mass.; granddaughter, Sara Hamilton of Gainesville, Fla.; grandson, Daniel Stoecker of Seattle, Wash.; granddaughter, Jessica Hamilton of Park City, Utah; granddaughter, Marcie Hamilton of Endwell; and granddaughter, Theresa (Tessa) Stoecker of Babylon.
Jack was predeceased by his son, John T. Hamilton Jr., of Delhi.
A reception to celebrate Jack's life will be held for family and friends at Cafe on the Green at the Delhi College Golf Course at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011.
A private graveside committal service will take place in Woodland Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
