Obituary of Marion L. Jones

SOUTH KORTRIGHT -- South Kortright resident Marion L. Jones, 86, died quietly at her home on Tuesday, July 31, 2012. A gathering in her memory will be held at a later date. Marion was born Dec. 3, 1925, in Ridgefield Park, N.J., to Karl and Edna Plasche. She studied painting at Columbia University before marrying Donald E. Jones in 1948. They lived in Teaneck, N.J. and New City, where she raised three children and countless animals and worked in the publishing industry. She and her husband retired to South Kortright in 1983, in order to enjoy country living. Marion was a passionate birdwatcher, whose interests also included gardening, reading, crafts and painting. She was an active golfer and bowler for many years as well. Mrs. Jones is survived by her daughters, Hilary Jones, Dorian Huneke, Allison Jones, their spouses and three beloved grandsons.
