Obituary of John J. Stiber

SOUTH KORTRIGHT John J. Stiber, 62, of South Kortright, died unexpectedly on Thursday, December 13, 2012 at Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown. He was born on February 8, 1950 in Stamford, the son of John and Katherine (Myers) Stiber. He married Mary Kay Roupp on June 16, 2000. A life-long area resident, John was a veteran of the USMC, serving during the Vietnam War. He was employed for over 30 years as a truck driver for the Town of Kortright. He enjoyed hunting and was a member of the American Legion. John is survived by his wife Mary Kay Stiber of South Kortright; his children, a son John M. and Heather Stiber of Tampa, Fla., a son Shawn Stiber of Presque Isle, Maine, a son Seth Stiber of South Kortright, a son Michael Stiber of South Kortright, and a daughter, Marion Stiber of South Kortright; grandchildren, Lisa, Lucas, Kassie, Samuel and Gavin; 7 siblings, sister, Kathy and Larry Fowler of South Gilboa, sister, Pat and Tom Haskins of Gilboa, sister, Mary Ann Proper of Stamford, brother, Robert Stiber of West Palm, Fla., sister, Terry Hasey of Blenheim, sister, Colleen and Bill Ciocarri of Gilboa, and sister, Rose and Tom Connelly of Gansevoort; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Calling hours will take place on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the MacArthur Funeral Home, Hobart. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at 10 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Church, Stamford, with Rev. Michael Cambi officiating.
