Obituary of Marion U. Gavett

Marion U. Gavett, 97, of Bloomville, passed away peacefully at her granddaughter's home, Friday evening, November 18, 2016. Born on September 9, 1919 in Winsor, Marion was raised in Walton. She was valedictorian of her graduating class at Walton Central School. Marion was married to Donald T. Gavett, he passed away on Febuary 5, 1994. Mrs. Gavett was employed for several years as a cook at O'Connor Hospital in Delhi, she also helped with the operation or their family farm. Marion enjoyed camping, bowling, playing cards, family get togethers and parties, swimming, gardening, shopping, and recently she enjoyed traveling around the countryside for car rides and eating out. Marion was a spunky person and will be remembered for her zest for life. She is survived by her daughters: Katherine "Kay" Frazee of Stamford and Donna Currie of Oriskany; a son-in-law: Donald Bright of Stamford; thirteen grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Besides her husband, Marion was predeceased by a daughter: Joan Bright; granddaughter: Terry Houser; sons-in-law: Albert Frazee and Rev. John Currie; two sisters: Doris Estes and Jennie Miller; and one brother: Hank Spaford. A celebration of life will be held at the convenience of the family at a later date. Burial will take place in Hamden Cemetery.
